Suede leather
Suede is made from the innermost layer of leather, superficially buffed to enhance its typical velvety feel.
Before cutting, artisans carefully analyse the leather, eliminating any potential imperfections: this delicate process requires time and precision. A latex brush removes dust and residue, while a coarser brush is used to revive the nap, so the shoe remains just as soft and beautiful as you see it now.
Blake stitch construction
The construction used for this shoe uses what’s known as a Blake stitch, named after the machine used to make it. This makes for a more durable shoe that can be resoled time and time again.
The process begins with careful study of the leather; after finding the best part, the artisan cuts and shapes it round the last to form the upper. This is then delicately hammered to smooth down the seams and soften the parts that come into contact with the foot. Now the upper is ready to be glued to the insole and then attached to the outsole with a Blake stitch; the artisan guides the shoe under the needle with precision and expertise.
Leather sole
Made to last, it is derived from cow leather through the vegetable tanning process. It is velvety to the touch, a typical feel for quality soles. Its edges are smoothed, polished and brushed, and it's attached to the shoe with a seam that is covered by our artisans with a zigzag decoration, that we in Italian like to call grechina.
Care
Leather gains beauty with age, so long as it is well taken care of. Here’s how:
- Use a brush to get rid of dust.
- If there are stains, rub them delicately using a soft-bristled brush, for example made from rubber (we use one made out of para rubber).
- Spray a brightening spray from 15-20 cm away from the shoe and wait for it to fully dry.
- Use a deodorizing spray on the inside of the show; wait a few hours before wearing it.
Take a look at our leather care kit: inside you’ll find everything you need to care for suede leather of any color. Entirely made in Italy, naturally.
Design
Our soft tapered tassel loafer. The English-inspired tassels are made with particular care: our artisans use a needle and thread to craft them by hand.
This shoe uses Blake stitch construction: the upper part of the shoe is molded and glued to the insole, then attached to the outsole using a Blake stitch, to produce a classic, lightweight and flexible shoe.
Our packaging
We’ve carefully designed our packaging, selecting sustainable materials in order to reduce waste and make the packing process easier for our artisans.
The cardboard is fully recycled and recyclable, as is the twine and packing tissue. Depending on your purchase, you’ll also find one or more cotton bags for your convenience: reuse them for home and wardrobe storage, or for organizing your things when going away on trips.
Made in Italy
Production is based in Montegranaro, in the Marche region, where the tradition of shoemaking has deep roots. For a product that lasts, we only select leathers that age well and put our trust in people who have been in this industry for generations. The artisans in our workshops have learned the job through family and know each and every trade secret. Just like Nazareno, who buffs every shoe with extreme dexterity and precision.
